In Memory of My Favorite Gospel Singer
As I stood in the dinning area on Sunday, October 10,2010. I turn from watching The Bobby Jones program, I hared the music that is played when BET is remembering someone. I turned back around and saw Dr. Albertina Walker's face on the screen.
I'll stop right there,I'm not able to go any farther....
New day 10/16/2010
GRAMMY-winning vocalist Albertina Walker, who helped launch some of the biggest names in traditional gospel through her vocal ensemble the Caravans, was so synonymous with her art that she was known simply as the ``Queen of Gospel''.
She will forever be in my heart and have a special place in my music library. R.I.P. "Queen of Gospel"!

A WOMEN OF MANY HATS
Thousands gather for MaLinda Sapp
The wife of Marvin Sapp was 43
GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) - Thousands of people from around the country celebrated the life of MaLinda Sapp Thursday in a memorial service filled with song and celebrities.
The wife of Marvin Sapp died September 9 of colon cancer at the age of 43. She's survived by her husband and three children.
And thousands of friends, including Rev. Jesse Jackson.
Marvin Sapp and his children addressed those gathered at Resurrection Life Church in Grandville, thanking those who came with both his words and a song.
"My faith is extended even more today," Sapp said. "MaLinda was the backbone of our family."
The internationally renowned gospel star established the Lighthouse Full Life Center with his wife, but the funeral for MaLinda was too big for their church. Resurrection Life Church holds around 4,000, and the seats were filled.
An emotional service that lasted more than four hours featured many speakers, including Jackson.
"To lose your lady, your wife, your sister, your partner, your worst fear is upon you," Jackson said.
The message was one of thanksgiving and hope. As one speaker said, "Don't be mad at God because he called an angel to be home with Him. We have to accept that and move on."

By Dani CarlsonI didn't know her personally, but I do know she was (is) a child of God. Not just because she's the wife of a great singer. It's because of her ministry. In the time given to helping her community and church. And the ideal mother, just from seeing the photo's of her children in this season, exemplifies the teaching they have received. Just inspires me to hang on in there no matter what the situation. As I enter this my eyes are welling up.... But, I will always keep her babies in my prayers. I know what it is to not have a "mother" to go to when the need arises. My heart goes out to them on that point. But , I pray that in the days ahead... That the Almighty will hold these children in the hallow of his hand.
And that the Almighty, would Bless- everything and situations that concerns the Sapp Family / The Church Family / The Extended Families / The Friends / The Business Affairs.....and even things I don't know to Pray for.......
**READERS KEEP THIS FAMILY BEFORE THE LORD....like never before.....

HE HAS BEEN CALL HOME / I'm goin' up yonder

My day has been sadden today, Due to the passing of this Gospel giant. For this is the era of my growing years. The songs of Bishop Walter Hawkins & Family, pull me right on through when I was in my low ebbs. I went through a lot in my young years, but at the end of the day I would take it to the Lord in prayer then top it off with my "Love Alive Album" and just sang until my heart was content.
That was my out let to get back on track. Music has always been my source of comfort. Music gives messages if we only listen to the words of a song and not just the beat or the melody, if you will. In fact this whole family has blessed my life through songs. And I Thank and Praise God for the messages from this messenger. I know heaven is happy right about now. This great man can help out the heavenly angels sing, Hallelujah to the Highest.......Glory! to God...

Walter Hawkins, a Grammy Award-winning gospel singer, composer and pastor from Oakland, died Sunday. He was 61. Hawkins, who was battling pancreatic cancer, passed away at his home in Ripon, California, his older brother Edwin Hawkins said. "Today, I lost my brother, my pastor, and my best friend," said Edwin Hawkins. "Bishop Hawkins
red bravely but now he will suffer no more and he will be greatly missed."
Born in Oakland, Hawkins studied for his divinity degree at the University of California, Berkeley.
While at the university, he recorded his first album titled "Do Your Best" in 1972.
The next year, Hawkins became a pastor and founded the Love Center Church in Oakland, where he also formed a choir. In the 1980s, Hawkins recorded a number of albums and earned nine Grammy Award nominations, according to friend and family representative, Bill Carpenter.
His "The Lord's Prayer" won a Grammy in 1980 and he also performed on the televised Grammy Awards ceremony that year. In 1990, Hawkins released "Love Alive III" which spent 34 weeks at the top on the Billboard gospel album sales chart, while going on to sell more than a million copies, according to Carpenter. In 1993 his next album, "Love Alive IV," also hit the top spot on the album sales chart. Between work on the two albums, Hawkins was ordained a bishop in October 1992.
At the time of his death, Hawkins was planning a new "Love Alive" CD concert recording for this fall.
Besides his brother Edwin, Hawkins is survived by four other siblings,
two children, two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
THIS FAMILY HAS SHARE ALL OF THEIR GOD GIVEN TALENTS WITH US........

CINCINNATI'S OWN BISHOP SWANSON
If you know anything about gospel and radio here in Cincinnati, then there’s no way you haven’t heard the legendary name Bishop Abraham Isaac Jacob Swanson XII spoken or repeated on-air over the years. Today, that name is synonymous with gospel music, intense spirit-filled worship and some of the most influential Biblical teachings of our time as we celebrate the life, legacy and loving ministry of one of Cincinnati’s own pioneering pastor of Bibleway Church of God in Christ (COGIC).
Bishop Abraham Isaac Swanson XII of Bibleway Church of God in Christ (COGIC) went onto glory on Tuesday, July 6, 2010.
Our friend and local leader, Bishop Swanson was well-known as “the little preacher with the big smile” for having impacted many lives and setting trends that will last years beyond the legacy he established. His last breath of hope took place here in Cincinnati at the Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash with his youngest daughter Raphaela “Rae” Swanson by his side. Today, the Bibleway COGIC family, the city and the nation have lost a great man of God who changed many lives with his timely and encouraging words of wisdom.
“I don’t care who you are, whether you live in an exclusive neighborhood, in a nice house or in the ghetto. I don’t care if you live in a garbage can. Wherever you live and whomever you are, I love you. You can say, ‘Little Abraham loves me and he thinks I’m somebody.’ You are somebody because God don’t make no junk. Stand your ground, keep the faith and hold on until reinforcement comes. I’m signing off, but I’ll see you in the morning.”
For more than 40 years in the field of radio broadcasting, at 6:00AM every morning Bishop Swanson signed off the air in that same way on WCIN 1480AM. He left us on Tuesday, July 6th at that exact hour signing off his final farewell. Now we each must remain faithful to the kingdom in order to see him in the morning.
Bishop Swanson is proceeded in death by his loving and supportive wife, the First Lady and Mother of Bibleway COGIC, Mary L. Swanson, who passed away in 2007. Bishop Swanson is also proceeded in death by his brother, Ezekial. Bishop Swanson leaves behind to grieve his sister, Gloria Roberson; brother, John James, and his three children: Patricia Lee, Raphaela “Rae” and Wayne Tyrone Swanson; nine beloved grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren plus a multitude of great–great-grandchildren. He will forever be remembered and honored by a host of additional family members, a lifetime of friends and supporters from the City of Cincinnati and abroad.
Check out this un-official photo gallery we’ve put together to give you a glimpse into the life of a leader we’ve all come to know and love in the Queen City. Tell us what you think of the photos and feel free to share them with your friends, family and other associates of the Bibleway COGIC ministry.

I did not know Bishop Swanson personally, but I had the honour to view Bibleways Television Broadcast when visiting the city. My Prayer is that the Almighty will strengthen Bibleway and the immediate family in the days to come.
Let's have reflection time often.....
and let's keep the moment of reflecting on ourselves ,not our brothers and sister's. Really examine... Am I doing what the lord would have me to do? or Have I wounded anyone today? weight in on the matter.... Check yourself (me too) from the neck up and eliminate that sinking thinking....
Oh! it's tight but it's right .....I know everyone of us intend to make it in....
As always.... Reader's be Blessed!!
Say a kind word / Hug someone
Touch sombodies life ,with understanding for it's one of the ways to show the master's love....
You'll be surprise how soon that same touch will come back to you....

GONE TO SOON
A Norcross church was in mourning Monday night after a crash claimed the life of a Snellville teen. Nineteen-year-old Jameka Byrd and three friends were returning home from a church trip when the tragedy struck.
Family members said Byrd, and three others were driving home from a church trip with the driver swerved to miss something in the road. The SUV flipped over three times seriously injuring two people, and killing Byrd. One person was treated and released.
Family members said Byrd was going to attend Savannah College of Art and Design in the fall. Byrd had just graduated from Parkview High School in Gwinnett County.

REMEMBERING "M J"
It's been one year. One year...that's still unbelievable. But it is a shame how the media is still spinning it. Focusing on the negative things in stead of celebrating the life of this man. I will always hold the song memories to heart. For it was my day and age of music. Having a musical background my self, It is, and what makes my day ,it is what helps to lift my spirits. Yes!...a good "old' song. Being that I'm not a fan of music of this day.. "rap"..enough said.
Some chose other out let's, but just start a song and you got my attention.
Yes, MJ's songs are of the secular world, but there is a message in them if you just listen....
My other genre is Gospel, but of course this entry is not about me.
So on that note...I want to thank the Heavenly Father for the life of
Micheal Joesph Jackson.... RIP! Musical Genius.
You will always be Loved & Remembered...

THOSE WHO HAVE ANSWERED THE CALL
The Lord gave her a message for me. Which did come to pass. In that I still till this day give all the praise, honour and glory for. Nowadays you don't get very many prophecies from people who say ," the Lord told me to tell you" ....., And that is so sad to have to say that. People tell me,"you need to stop looking back all the time".
But ,I say why not these are my good times in my memories. And I Thank and Praise God,nobody can take them away.
Another soldier for the Lord. The late Mother Willa Mae Mosley. What a time in the Lord we would have. My memories of services will never die. One service in particular was the Thursday Prayer Band, where a group of ministers and lay persons would gather at 5232 Butler Terrance. That would start at 9:am and go on as long as the Lord was speaking to the saints. Then after the service who ever was the host would prepare the meal. Around that time I was in my teens, and really beginning to seek the Lord with my whole heart. Also, back then there was no big "I's" and little"u's". It was just Jesus all the way. It was not about how much money that could be raised. It wasn't about who didn't have money to put in the offering and who didn't. It was pure praise and worship. After a while the meeting started floating around to different homes and churches. It was so awesome that it got started another day of the week. Tuesday Prayer Band was just as hot as Thursday
Better known as Elder Cobb, another powerful vessel of God.
Founder of The Spiritual Temple of Moses. This was where I preached my trial sermon in 1979. Before then I was still seeking the Lord mightily and with having had the opportunity to be in classes, services, shut ins. There was no way that anybody that was under his leadership, should have came out not knowing about the Master are his works.
Bishop ate, walked and talked the Bible. And done the works of him that sent him. I was an ear piece for Bishop and Mother Mosley, before their transition. I made myself available to them while they where hospitalized. By visiting and by phone. The one conversation I had with each, was finding out that what I had gone through as a child was not unnoticed. I never thought that anyone in my surroundings knew what I had to endure as a child. But we never know who is watching us. And we never know who is interceding on our behalf. I thank God for having these people cross my path.
